OUR APPROACH
At GEWLS™, every product is treated as a hero. We don’t design around volume, filler, or seasonal noise—we design around pieces we fully stand behind. Each design is developed with intention, held to uncompromising standards of quality and fit, and released only when it meets our expectations. Our styles are intentionally transeasonal, designed to remain relevant year after year, and to build on one another over time, gradually shaping a cohesive GEWLS™ world and aesthetic that grows richer with every release.

Each pair is hand-crafted with a family-owned calzaturificio in Le Marche, Italy, using leathers and suedes sourced exclusively from LWG-certified tanneries. Working with responsibly sourced materials allows us to maintain full accountability throughout our supply chain—because our position in luxury is not about prestige, but about enabling a more thoughtful way of making. OUR FOUNDER
Giulia Palermo’s relationship with design began early. Growing up in Los Angeles, she was drawn to an aesthetic of ease—an appreciation for simplicity, comfort, and the quiet confidence of minimal design. Summers spent in Italy further shaped her sensibility, where she would spend hours exploring her grandmother’s wardrobe, drawn to the character of vintage garments that had been worn and preserved over decades.
Sifting through archived clothing, Palermo studied seams, fabrics, and embellishments with a deep curiosity for how pieces were constructed and how they aged over time. What began as childhood fascination became an early education in craftsmanship—an understanding that the most enduring pieces are defined not by trends, but by the care with which they are made.
After refining her perspective in New York City, where she built her career and concluded her design studies, Palermo found the corporate fashion system often left her unfulfilled, where creativity and respect for materials were too often sacrificed. With GEWLS™, she set out to create something different: a brand dedicated to hero pieces that transcend trends and are made to be worn on repeat for years to come.
Central to Palermo’s process is her personal involvement in every stage of development. She travels regularly to Italy to collaborate directly with artisans and manufacturers, selecting partners who uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship and responsible production. Materials are approved by hand, fits refined in person, and production runs closely overseen to ensure each piece reflects the care behind its creation. For Palermo, knowing the artisans behind each piece is as essential as the work itself.
